There are images and emotions that we have under our skin, although we have not been able to see and live them personally for personal data. Maybe they come to mind when we narrow our eyes and think of summer as if they were frames of life lived. This is how Maria Rosaria Ciullo tells us about how the idea of her latest capsule collection of Emozioni in Libertà dedicated to summer 2020 was born.
Stripes Capsule Collection for summer 2020
“When I think of summer, I often think of the seaside ones of the 60s: the wooden cabins, the juke box, the popsicle on the stick, the one-piece swimsuits and high-waisted bikinis, the rubber caps with colorful flowers in relief, the pedal boats … And then the stripes. Those of the wooden deck chairs or umbrellas with cotton fringes that sway in the wind ”.
This new collection by Maria Rosaria is dedicated to the Stripes, who certainly did not experience that period, but sublimated it through the stories of loved ones, black and white photos, films and documentaries of the time. Because as she adds: “certain memories live even in those who have not lived them personally. And with the advent of summer comes the obsession with stripes for me. And for the marine style from which this trend derives”.
An obsession, the one for lines, that we like so much and that we wanted to make our preview! Among those proposed by Emozioni in Libertà, blue and white, black, red, I have chosen for my inseparable medium-sized bag with a long shoulder strap to wear as a bandolier, the color of passion, the red, cheerful and fun that makes you immediately think of endless days of summer.
Large enough to contain the indispensable, but not cumbersome in such a way as not to constitute a further “hindrance” in a hot season that will be different from the previous ones because due to the health emergency we are experiencing, we will be accompanied by gloves, masks and detergents sanitizing.
So we will need joy and looking at this line of bags proposed by Emozioni in Libertà, the carefree and almost Fantozzian beach holidays that our parents have made cannot fail to come to mind.
That Maria Rosaria tells us so, through the memories and emotions of those who lived and handed them down.
“When the departure was a real move and the streets were crowded with cars loaded with “weapons and luggage”, almost as tall as three-storey buildings, they were so full of suitcases, deckchairs, umbrellas, boxes, seats, picnic tables, dinghies, mattresses”.
How can we not feel emotion to imagine such a picture? How can we not find joy in wearing an accessory that has been designed in this way by those who created it?
And how could we not think of recreating a context that would lead us back to that recent past lived by our grandparents and our parents? Hence the idea of creating an ideal atmosphere, even if revisited, thanks to the help of Giuseppe Gelsomino who gave us a splendid 1954 Fiat 500 Belvedere, of which he is proud owner and with whom we made a time jump in the past that allowed us to live for a few hours as on a movie set. And thanks to the sunglasses by Ottica Moschetta Selection, which recall the lines of the time in the frame with the contemporary touch of pink lenses.
I am reminded of “Il Sorpasso” by Dino Risi with a journey not only physical but also and above all symbolic through Italy of the economic boom and the mirage of well-being, holidays and stops at the motorway service stations, songs, horns and cars still for a few.
Why a film that takes us back to the period but certainly does not do it in a carefree way? Apart from that we consider it a great masterpiece, the reason is to be connected to the fact that even now we are definitely not experiencing peaceful moments but at the same time we are convinced that we must think of this period as a way to rediscover the affections, to rediscover the taste of little things like reading, chatting with friends even if at a distance, dressing well for the simple pleasure of doing it. And what better season than summer to shake off some melancholy? With the lines of the capsule collection of Emozioni in Libertà of course…
