CDC_STUDIO is an incubator of ideas born from the will of Cristina Di Carlo and her passion for “reuse”. The start-up behind the CDC_STUDIO brand project immediately wanted to expand the world of fashion to more sustainable horizons.
The eco style of Cristina Di Carlo
A world that Cristina knows well as she has 10 years of experience in textile and fashion companies as a seamstress in artisan companies, designer of bags for small leather goods, freelance product manager for some brands at national level and freelance research and development consultant for new sustainable materials.
And she also knows fashion “responsibilities”: in fact it is one of the consumer sectors par excellence. 70 percent of emissions derive from so-called “upstream” activities, including the production, preparation and processing of raw materials, all energy-intensive activities, while 30 percent from “downstream” activities, including packaging, shipping and use of the product. And to all this is added the problem of textile inventories in the warehouse for which it is urgent to find a remedy in view of the 2030 agenda which requires finding circular solutions for disposal.
So it is upstream that we need to intervene and that is why Cristina wanted to give life in her Tuscany to the sustainable brand CDC_STUDIO whose mission is to create collections from 100% recovered materials: a recycled, patented and high quality fabric, called Cōēo, derived from the two materials considered among the most polluting, polyethylene packaging and textile waste, with a technology that allows them to be regenerated, combining them and creating a new waterproof final product with an attractive look.
This new product, created in partnership with Aliplast of the Hera Group, derives from materials that have finished their first life cycle and that would have ended up in landfills, while becoming a real resource. And above all, “they become the basis for making clothing in a more responsible way” – Cristina says us.
The brand’s clothing collections are totally sustainable and made of fabric produced through the recycling of plastic material from packaging, polyethylene and certified EUCERTPLAST. CDC_STUDIO coats and accessories for fashion are totally made in Italy and 100% sustainable and their life cycle is durable and potentially infinite.
In fact, the next step has already been defined and Cristina is working jointly with a spin off of the University of Chemistry of Pisa to be able to recycle Cōēo and turn it into a new material that can be used and recycled over and over again. And not only in clothing with outerwear, currently offered in the collection that is experiencing great success, but also in other sectors such as footwear, furniture and automotive.
The clothing line proposed by the brand not only represents a wealth that combines exclusivity and responsibility, but it is a real explosion of color and joy!
And the concepts on which the Joyful collection for next spring summer 2022 is based, entirely made with fabric and other totally sustainable materials, are joy and rebirth.
And it is the color that reigns supreme: fuchsia, yellow, blue, orange, are just some of the variations proposed for fun garments to have fun with!
Each outerwear is ultralight, water repellent, windproof and very resistant.
But the whole collection is very versatile and each garment is no gender and body positive, designed to embrace every type of body and physiognomy and perfect to wear on any occasion, “because it knows how to amaze, gives personality to every look and certainly does not go unnoticed” – as Cristina declares. In short, the passepartout to always keep with you, for any eventuality, without forgetting the style!
The protagonist of our article is part of the Joyful collection for the next spring / summer season. And like all CDC_STUDIO creations it combines the water-repellent quality of the Cōēo material, and its sustainable nature, with a simple but fun cut.
The cape in a cheerful tone of bright yellow is a special garment that does not follow trends and to wear not only to protect yourself from the elements with style and fun. As a faithful ally of a boat ride, between the spray of foam raised by the wind on the sea and the return to the port to protect from the humidity of the first sunny days between a beer and a chat.
But also as an elegant and at the same time practical and playful companion for city and country tours. To underline that all CDC_ STUDIO garments are ideal for every occasion and every look.
The commitment made by Cristina towards the environment and people does not end in raising a waste to a noble material: in fact, an entire sustainable short production chain has been created, translated into the desire to safeguard workers and nature.
An eco-friendly strategy completed by the traceability piece and based on artisanal and responsible productions that are the basis of the patented fabric for all collections.
The garments are sold exclusively in pre-order to avoid wastage or production waste.
Furthermore, CDC_STUDIO is a KM0 brand. The extreme attention to respect for the environment has led Cristina and her collaborators to choose suppliers who are all located within a radius of 40 km: the resulting advantage is the maximum control of every single process and the reduction of production times and delivery.
All included in the CDC_STUDIO motto “do something drastic: reuse plastic!”.
