Rastin Art puts Iran in the window. When you think of Persia, carpets and kilims immediately come to mind, but Iranian artisans are also masters in arts such as chiselling, inlay, carving, blown glass, ceramics, filigree silver processing, hand-printed fabrics.
The Persia of the thousand arts
Outside the national borders, however, all this work is not well known and has so far been little disclosed. Faezeh’s idea starts precisely from this intent, that of making people appreciate the precious craftsmanship of her land of origin, the accuracy and meticulousness of the productions carried out entirely by hand, which find their space in Rastin Art.
Faezeh is not only convinced that unity is strength even in the world of micro-enterprises of 2.0 craftsmen, but that it is important to include them in a dedicated portal that chooses and promotes products by focusing on savoir faire and uniqueness.
And we are convinced that the moment is the right one because never before are artisans sought after as they bring back ancient traditions to be sold all over the world with e-commerce according to the current 2.0 trend.
In the virtual showcase of Rastin Art Faezeh hosts several Iranian designers who propose their works based on the fusion of modern forms, tradition and technique.
Each of them offers its own “specialties” but the common denominator is unique, which is that of the perfection of imperfection: all products, from jewelry to clothes, from ceramics to accessories are handmade.
Rastin Art, as Faezeh explains to us, is a platform born in 2019 to support talent and manual skills, which revolves around the culture of quality, through the promotion of excellent craftsmanship, and which becomes a sophisticated journey into strictly Iranian design with a focus on jewelry, clothing, accessories and ceramics, all inspired by the beauty of Arabian architecture. A dream that she had had for years and that she has realized by opening this online art shop from which to reach the world and reach even those like her who live far from her homeland.
Faezeh chose Italy as a starting point not only because it is a country of art but also because it boasts a history as fascinating as that of her Persia. And it also immediately appreciated the passionate welcome from the Italians towards her and the interest in timeless creations made with first-rate materials from her land. Especially from Isfahan, a city with wonderful buildings very dear to her, which boasts one of the largest squares in the world, Naghsh-e Jahan Place declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and which is twinned with Florence.
What can you find in the Rastin Art showcase? The beauty of Iran that Feazeh chooses for her online shop in which brands of great craftsmanship are protagonists such as handmade ceramics, bright paintings, lanterns in lanacotta made with vegetable materials and dyes and accessories in which traditional weaving techniques are reinterpreted in modern forms and contemporary designs.
But also organic cotton tablecloths, hand-printed with the Ghalamkari technique typical of Isfahan and silver rings, cufflinks and earrings decorated with designs that reflect Persian calligraphy. There is a very wide choice in the field of very refined jewelry which is often based on Iranian architecture and art but seen in a contemporary way, in a captivating combination of tradition and modernity.
The mosaic technique with mirrors is interesting, which with its play of lines and light echoes the geometric designs of the kilims, while the jewels made of Plexiglas are cheerful and colorful.
Delicate but with a strong personality are the earrings embroidered by hand with the Suzani technique and those painted on metal, which are inspired by traditional Iranian designs such as the Qalamkar shown on gold and silver.
Each of the creations of these talented artisan artists has captured our attention and interest. Among all we have chosen two rings made by Fatemeh Asfhary and Soheil Hoseini who together in life and work gave life to the SIIN brand, which in the inlays and designs takes up the traditional Persian ceramics, those seven-colored tiles, carved and painted used in the decoration of religious and historical buildings.
New objects of desire and “everyday” brass jewels to wear to create a contemporary look that winks at the art and history of one of the most ancient and refined civilization regions in the world. Waiting to be able to start traveling again and maybe to leave for Iran to visit the artisans in person in their ateliers.
Our advice? Visit the Restin Art virtual store, continue browsing while having fun walking through the windows in safety and choosing from the comfort of your home.
Faezeh never tires of searching for the most beautiful and original handicrafts of her land for her site and her customers.
