Each jewel is worked entirely by hand, forging the metal exactly as the goldsmiths of the past did. Valentina is a “daughter of art”: hers is a family with a long tradition in the field of jewelry and since she was a child she was inevitably attracted to all that glitters, ever since she wandered into the historic Lefèvre shop in via della Colonna Antonina in Rome.

Valentina represents the fourth generation of this historic brand of Roman jewelery. The progenitor Oreste Lefèvre opened his workshop in the center of Rome, in 1880. Since then, first Fabio, his son, expert in the goldsmith’s art and expert in precious stones and then Massimo, son of Fabio, with the collaboration of his sisters Anna and Cecilia, keep traditions alive in the historic center in front of the Parliament. Over the years they have begun to create their own lines of gold and precious stone jewelry with the help of specialized craftsmen. And today Valentina, Cecilia’s daughter, designs her homonymous line of hand-made jewels with materials such as silver and semiprecious stones.

Her personal journey around materials as modelable as brass and silver began after a specific training at the IED and subsequent collaborations with important companies and chain stores. Then she decided to continue this sort of sensory journey alone, in which each creation made with the lost wax technique and the use of semi-precious stones and precious materials, tells a story and has a name.

Her bijoux are symbols that are enriched with new values, handmade with great experience from metals from which small masterpieces take shape.
Her personality is contained in some characteristics of the jewelry. The inspiration comes directly from what she sees, from those she meets, but also from urban architecture.
And when we ask her: “What is a jewel for you?”, she has no doubts: “An unnecessary accessory, but very useful to the mood”.

And I totally agree! I often choose the jewel to wear based on my mood, like a perfume. If it’s a beautiful day, I focus on colored stones, perhaps combined with each other like the wedding rings proposed by Valentina in vitrified brass made by hand with the lost wax technique.

Fall in love with the Pepitine Rings with a silver base and a brass nugget engraved on both sides and the baroque and simple at the same time chevaliers, with the letters enameled in various colors. The square rings with stones are very original and are among the favorites of the creator who proposes them from season to season, changing something every time. The brass rings of the Zoo series are irresistible to be worn all together creating a carousel of animals.

You got it… I would like them all, because the beauty of Valentina Giovanelli’s collections is that they are so different from each other and so intriguing that you want to own at least one piece for each one! Maybe they can also be worn all together because they are so refined that they don’t risk a kitch effect.

In short, choosing only one was “tiring”. I’ve changed my mind several times: I really like puppies, squirrels, cats, bunnies and the French Bulldog, the latest addition to the Zoo collection. But even trying a square ring would have intrigued me a lot…

In the end I went for the classic, albeit up to a certain point. Because this adjective does not suit Valentina’s creations. In fact, my choice fell on “Chevalier in my opinion”, which would be according to her but which fits perfectly with my personality. Just as perfect is the slogan that promotes its uniqueness and with which it accompanies the photos on her Instagram profile: “Make yourself remarkable”.

And I did it, opting for a ring that, as Valentina points out, is “the jewel that identifies us most, our heart, our head on our hands” in the silver version with the letter R engraved and marked in black enamel, versatile and with a linear and decisive design, but softened by rounded corners, which goes well with everything, from jeans to the suit to the most elegant dress.
