Not falling in love with what Orsetta Mantovani creates is almost impossible! In fact, the love at first sight was immediate when I saw on her Instagram profile the garments she offers with the brand that incorporates her name and surname in the naming.

A shirt named Asia

But before talking about her creations, I want to introduce her, whom I met “from afar” through emails and phone calls, but whom I hope to meet in person as soon as possible.
Orsetta Mantovani is a stylist, an entrepreneur, but also a style consultant. In fact, she tells me convinced that “To offer a real service it is not enough to make a good garment, you have to add something that cannot be bought. I choose to earn the trust of my customers every day with passion and sincerity, creating a feeling that goes beyond the product”.

Orsetta Mantovani

Orsetta transfers this passion and her concept of style into her collections that reflect her cosmopolitan vocation. She lived half her life abroad, between Parisian high fashion and New York’s belle vie, and for more than 30 years she worked as a retail director for famous international brands such as Max Mara and Loro Piana, managing the opening of their stores and all departments supporting the brand, from the store concept to buying, up to visual merchandising.

Today, all her experiences in the fashion industry are converted into the ideas behind her creations that are inspired by great women like Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Bianca Jagger. All women capable of looking at haute-couture with awareness and profound elegance, aware of the real function of fashion: allowing each woman to express herself through what she wears.

In my own small way in the presence of these style icons, I am convinced too, so the harmony with Orsetta was immediate. As well as the infatuation for garments with spicy colors and exotic lines and for outfits with intense and brilliant nuances that recall summer, the sun-drenched landscapes, the emerald sea, the cocktails on the beach on the shoreline, with the background of the lapping of the waves.

Orsetta Mantovani’s dresses are in high quality natural fabrics, with original prints that stand out against bold colors such as red, fuchsia and teal.
The lines, which celebrate the Mediterranean summer and recall the fascinating stylistic approach of the 70s, are designed to enhance the figure of women, regardless of size and age. They are refined but at the same time linear dresses ready to be loved by everyone.

And the clothes you love last a long time, especially if like those of Orsetta Mantovani they are made with Italian fabrics, precious prints and a reality made of commitment, care and attention. Orsetta designs and produces every single garment with an exclusive tailor-made approach, and a fit studied on the different essence of each woman.

Her shirts are special items and are not sold through commercial channels, but like all the items in the collection, only during exclusive events or on the official website www.orsettamantovani.com.

The woman who, like me, chooses to dress with the designer’s creations wants to feel special. For this reason, during our pleasant telephone conversation Orsetta pointed out to me that: “Each garment is created to be interpreted, and embodies a specific purpose: to help every woman to tell about herself – and enhance herself – through what she wears”.

Thus was born the idea of creating an exotic context for the Asia shirt, wide, fluffy and with an ethnic charm. Mine is in cotton gauze in a bright shade of pink called Raspberry Sorbet, the fresh and energizing color of the raspberry sorbet that is among the hottest this spring summer, in contrast with stylized swans in a warm hazelnut color, but it is also available in silk georgette and stretch silk satin, in all colors.

Thanks to their wearability, all Orsetta Mantovani shirts are very easy to wear but always unique thanks to particular details that in the Asia shirt are the V-neck, the laces for closure and the puffed sleeves. How did I wear it? I paired it with sarong trousers in pure and fresh cotton in a neutral shade, a must have for the hottest season, which enhanced its oriental allure.

And to accentuate the idea of an ideal trip to Asia, I wanted to complete the look with hats in palm leaves and bamboo, the ones used by fishermen and rice harvesters to shelter from the sun and rain.

Then, with a bit of imagination, I imagined finding myself among the landscapes and atmospheres of a film I loved very much: “The Lover” by Jean-Jacques Annaud which takes place in French Indochina in the 1930s.
The places are more “homegrown” because we have not been able to move beyond the regional borders, but the identification was possible thanks above all to the line of the Asia shirt, its original print with flying swans, the tassels and the cords that embrace the oriental philosophy.
