Eclectic, with a touch of timeless elegance: this is how the Monteforte Resort in Ugento can be briefly described.
Thanks to the choice of bright colours for the walls, the seven rooms, all different, each have their own personality, serving as a “shell” to furnish them with modern furniture and curious objects, such as urchin lamps by Ceramiche Veglie. The passion of the owner Salvatore Congedi, for unusual combinations, is reflected in this refined and successful mix.
In the suite upstairs, called Baia delle Zagare, the dark orange of the walls highlight the size and brightness of the room in which there is a double bed, and in a smaller adjoining room is equipped a single bed.
The large fireplace emphasizes that this comfortable hotel, located in an ancient family building in the historic center of Ugento, and completely renovated by the architect Costa, welcomes guests in any season.
We stayed in the senior suite Zeus, equipped with two beds, a king-sized bed, with one of the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on and additionally there is a French bed on the mezzanine level. Our inseparable pet dog Arturo, had plenty of space outside. We also had the use of a small kitchen where to relax and enjoy coffee and tea in peace, a private entrance through to a staircase leading to a beautiful small terrace where to spend some time in summer. The suite had a very spacious bathroom with a chromo therapy shower and sauna. It was a real shame we did not have enough time to enjoy all these relaxation facilities!
Sharing Salvatore’s philosophy, which over the time has also been assimilated by the reliable Cristian Buleandra, who welcomes guests with kindness and professionalism, and with perfect Italian, learned after having moved here from Romania ten years ago, “the life of each of us is a story of short and long travels”. Our journey led us to Monteforte Resort, where we shared with Salvatore and his son Antonio, who greeted us warmly at dinner in his small and cozy trattoria ” La bottega dei sapori” in Torre San Giovanni, the feeling that moves the world …”Love”. And here we have breathed so much love!
