L’Arturo is a wine bar and delicatessen with flavors and wine from Basilicata. This place owned by Arturo Fabiano is all this and even more, being a reference point and meeting place for those visiting Matera and for the young musicians attending the Conservatory of the Città dei Sassi. In one of the most cozy squares of the old town, in Piazza del Sedile, L’ Arturo offers platters of cold cuts and cheeses and sandwiches. In the first room there is a shop and fast food space, while at the back there is a space for those who want to enjoy the food comfortably seated at the table.
Leaving the place, going down the stairs that beneath an archway lead to the heart of the Sassi and at the base of the Cathedral, a narrow road leads to the entrance of L’Arturo B&b. It has been renovated in a soft way as to maintain the charm that gives things the patina of time, this lovely bed and breakfast has been furnished by the owners Arturo and his wife Monica with pieces of furniture found a bit everywhere, and furniture made from recycled materials such as old beer wooden boxes and copper basins.
Extraordinary are the views from the windows over the Sassi, beautiful at any time of the day: from the sun-drenched morning to dusk when the last rays of color of gold the old houses, until night with the lights that make it looks like a crib .
A heart, symbol of the B&b and of the business located in Piazza del Sedile, shows up everywhere being also the main concept of Arturo and Monica: “Whoever comes here should feel at home, take time to read, to idle and, if he feels like, to eat . Even at three in the afternoon. ”
The three suites, Anita, Monica and Aldo, named after the members of the family, and are all different from each other, and have the atmosphere of a private house. Original floors and vaulted ceilings characterize the comfortable and spacious rooms with private entrance, bathroom, minibar, heating and air conditioning, Tv and Wifi. A fourth room will soon be available to guests who in the morning are pampered by a rich breakfast served in the small courtyard on colored iron tables between the lush plants.
